Yes, we live. We're alive! The BosKos crew had a successful weekend meetup event this past July 25 & 26. While we didn't manage to draw in our entire crowd, we had our best showing yet - total of 6 people, counting HawkWife and myself, over the 2 days.

Finally, we meet! (Again. Er, "-ish.")
In attendance last weekend, at one point or another, were Knockbally, Mad Mary, CwV, gmoke, HawkWife, and myself. We only got one really viable photo, which was from the Saturday half of the event, so I've taken the liberty of affixing an image of gmoke from one of his blogs' profile pages...it's an amazing likeness, no? ;)

We now have veteran BosKos attendees now, too! Our veterans are those who have been to more than one BosKos meetup, and are gmoke, Knockbally, and CwV. When I mentioned that he was a veteran, gmoke pointed out that he always counted our first meeting at Drunken Bloggin' to be our first BosKos, and I have to agree - while we hadn't formed an official group, we did have one heckuva precursor that demonstrated there ARE a wide and varied number of Boston-area Kossacks who can really hold their liquor add to the conversation. We'll have to kosmail 'em all and invite 'em to attend the next event...

The conversation was great, and everyone mentioned that they're looking forward to the next event, which we're going to have in August. We're already looking for a venue...

As for last weekend, here's some excerpts from attendees:

Knockbally:

"I arrived a bit late, thanks to Boston area traffic, but all was well.  We shared yummy appetizers and great conversations.  I was very glad to meet new folks and re-meet Grey and HawkWife. "
CwV:
Finally! We meet!

A small gathering in Quincy. I'd already met GreyHawk but new to me: MadMary and Knockbally and then Mrs GreyHawk.

Good conversations.

And a focus on where/when/how to meet next month that would be convenient for some of the other Greater Boston Area Kossacks (I know you are out there).

Watch this space, let's build a regional presence. Can't let the Mainiacs dominate the New England turf, they're northerners.

HawkWife:
  1.  It was great seeing everybody.  I think, when it comes to knowing people primarily online, you tend to forget that they're flesh and blood just like you.
  2. I missed the bulk of the meeting but everyone updated me as to what was discussed.  Being a mostly lurking Kossack, I appreciated this.
  3. FOOD!
Here's an example of a complex/compound question that was batted about:
Would Hillary consider Bernie as a VP? Would Bernie consider accepting such an offer? What about vice-versa - if Bernie were the candidate, would he offer Hillary the Veep slot? Would Hillary be likely to accept or reject it? ...would/should either consider the role of veep for the other?
Since there's no "right" or "wrong" answer, I'll let you all wonder what kind of responses were offered - feel free to copy/paste the question & its parts into comments, and add your own thoughts.

Another question:

Boston and the Olympics - good or bad?
Contrary to popular belief, "boxers or briefs" was not a question asked or answered at any point, and I think if we'd asked our bartender she would have spiked our drinks with kool-aid flavored laxatives...so, it's best that we let that one go.

Anywho - I'll be working with folks to find the venue for the next meetup, and we're thinking Boston proper this time - or at least in and around the city a little closer than Quincy, like from Kendall Square through Cambridge and possibly Somerville. I've got some specific parameters that I'm looking to match - we'll be expecting a larger crowd - so I'll reach out to folks individually very shortly.

Who's thinking of attending? Have you made any BosKos meetups yet, or would you be a first-timer? (Don't worry - we don't bite, esp. if the appetizers are good and arrive early.)
